Fans packed the Southern New Mexico Speedway for night one of two of the Labor Fling featuring the Sands Chevrolet USAC Southwest Sprint Cars and N.M.M.R.A Sprint Cars. Thirty on "Wingless Warriors" checked in for battle calling for a good night of racing. The Claimers, Mini Sprints, Sun Valley Hardware USRA Stock Cars, Casa Nissan Legends of the Southwest, and Jack Key Auto Group USRA X-Mods all joined the party.

The Claimers put on a good show as they brought nineteen cars tonight! Jared Latham led the first lap after starting on the pole but the car faded away as the fifty-one of Kenny McCoy would take the lead after starting tenth. McCoy would run away and never be seen again to win the Claimer Feature.

Kenny McCoy won the Claimer feature.

Eight mini Sprints checked in for a quick fifteen lap feature. Melisa Gorham lead the whole way until she got really loose in turn two with three laps to go and Derek Ortega capitalized on her hiccup. It was a rare mistake by Gorham but Derek Ortega would win the Mini Sprint main event.

The streak stays alive for Donovan Flores as he started on the outside pole and stayed there! The Sun Valley Hardware USRA Stock Cars ran twenty rounds around the Southern New Mexico Speedway and only had to worry about two cautions. Rocko Gallardo drove Pete Vargas's triple seven machine tonight and challenged Flores for the lead on lap fifteen of twenty. With five to go fans got on the edge of their seats. Gallardo went side by side with him for three laps then got the lead, but a caution flew!! At the green, white, checker Flores would run away to win the Sun Valley Hardware USRA Stock Car feature.

Twenty-two Casa Nissan Legends of the Southwest checked in for battle. Tyler Beiter lead the first two rounds and pulling away until a caution flew. On the restart Dylan Harris would take the lead! Harris started eleventh and would run away on lap three. Dusty Riggs challenged Harris on lap seven of the twenty lap main. Riggs would lead it by lap eight and run away. Dylan Harris wouldn't give up and would get back around Riggs on lap eighteen. A caution would fly making it a green white checker and on the restart Dylan Harris took off to win the Casa Nissan Legends of the Southwest main event.

The USAC and N.M.M.R.A "Wingless Warriors" took the track before the X-Mods and it was a good one! Shon Deskins was close to getting his first Border Tour win tonight. Deskins started on the pole and lead the way staying strong till a caution flew on lap eighteen of thirty. The bottom was fast all night but it was just a tad faster on the top lane, Unfortunately the top went away and so did Shon Deskins. R.J. Johnson would idle on the bottom of the corners and smash the gas on exit to take off. Charles Davis Jr would run second but had nothing for Johnson. R.J. Johnson picks up his fourteenth win of the 2017 season, and his seventh Border Tour feature win.

The twenty-five lap Jack Key Auto Group USRA X-Mod main event concluded the night as Nick Rivera lead the first ten laps surviving five cautions. On the fifth restart tenth place starter Bumper Jones would take the lead as Rick Hall let Jones take the wheel for the night. Jones had big shoes to fill as Rick Hall has put Ryan Gustin and Ricky Thornton Jr behind the wheel of that car and they both won. Bumper Jones didn't upset as he would prevail and win the Jack Key Auto Group USRA X-Mod main event.

Bumper Jones won the Jack Key Auto Group USRA X-Mod feature.
